Dear Friends of Mission San Gabriel:
Our Fiesta Committee has been meeting and deliberating on our annual festival, and we believe it is in the best interest of the community not to have our weekend Fiesta this year. Please understand that this decision is out of an abundance of caution that large gatherings of people are not safe at this time given the guidelines of our Archdiocesan, local, and State officials. We are looking forward to our 250th Anniversary of the founding of Mission San Gabriel next year and will focus our efforts to bring back our Labor Day Weekend Fiesta as strong as ever in 2021.
For this year, we will continue some of our Fiesta events such as hosting the Major Awards Raffle, publishing an electronic Fiesta Souvenir Book, and seeking sponsorships. Owing to the serious economic impact from COVID-19 on our parish, it is even more important for us to continue fundraising to replace the loss of income we have experienced. We will focus on cash prizes for our raffle, including a $10,000 grand prize. The raffle began on August 15th, and will end on the Feast of St Nicholas, December 6th.
We ask for your support by picking up raffle ticket books after Sunday Masses or in the Rectory Office. The revenue from a successful raffle will help offset the cancellation our regular Fiesta. Thank you for your continued support of the San Gabriel Mission and the countless people we serve.
